A weird comic for a weird year to come!
I wish I could say that the year ahead is predictable but it absolutely is not. So much is happening rather quickly across the country, as well as around the world. It's not as if this isn't how it has always been. Change stops for no one! Not even billionaires.
There's a line in the song "Queendom" by Aurora that has resonated with me since hearing it some weeks ago. I find myself sitting with it now. It reads:
"I hunt the grounds for empathy
And hate the way it hides from me.
With care and thirst I have become.
You have a home in my queendom.
You have a place in my queendom."
No, I will not tell you how to feel about those words but for me they are inviting and wise. They are true and relevant today. Cheers to 2025 my friends. We survived. The jokes on them! -DG
This is a short comic that introduces the life of the early church father Maximus the Confessor. He would dare to defy the emperor's theological mandates. It would lead to his persecution. I illustrated this for all ages but more so for myself. I enjoy learning about the early church by turning the info into comic strips. I imagine others might enjoy it too.
