Cruelty. Cruelty is exhausting.
It truly is exhausting so why do so many in our country seem eager to harm others? It is well understood that when we harm others, we are harming ourselves. What we do to others is what we permit to be done to ourselves. When we rob others of justice we make it so our own justice can be robbed. It is dangerous to exercise cruelty, to make cruelty your culture. To justify cruelty we must twist into pretzels of dissonance. Double-speak and contradictions weigh down our reason and... it is exhausting. So exhausting. They're tired.
This is a short comic that introduces the life of the early church father Maximus the Confessor. He would dare to defy the emperor's theological mandates. It would lead to his persecution. I illustrated this for all ages but more so for myself. I enjoy learning about the early church by turning the info into comic strips. I imagine others might enjoy it too.
